Dr Chris Hinde has over 45 years in the mining industry. After qualifying with a 1st in Mining Engineering at Cardiff University, and obtaining a PhD in rock mechanics, he worked on an Anglo American gold mine in South Africa. Chris subsequently worked for SRK Consulting and Golder Associates in South Africa and the UK, respectively, before a short period in stock broking. 

For many years, Chris led the editorial teams at the weekly Mining Journal and monthly Mining Magazine, and was instrumental in establishing the Mines & Money series of conferences. Chris subsequently led the Metals & Mining team at S&P Global Market Intelligence. Until recently, Chris was Chief Commentator for the event organiser Mining Beacon, and also contributed a regular column to Northern Miner (click to see the final column).
